Amy Tishelman, Ph.D.
Amy Tishelman, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist, has worked for many years evaluating children and families, and has particular expertise in the area of family violence, child maltreatment and trauma. In addition to serving as a consultant at the MGH Children and the Law Program, she is Director of Research and Training for the Children’s Hospital Boston (CHB), Child Protection Program (CPP) and prior to that she was the CHB Director of Child Protection Clinical Services. Dr. Tishelman was recently appointed to Governor Patrick’s Council on Domestic and Sexual Violence and is co-chair of the child/youth services working group. She also has served on numerous occasions as an expert in the area of child sexual abuse, and speaks locally and nationally on issues related to interpersonal violence and trauma.
Among her many other activities, Dr. Tishelman serves as a Mental Health Consultant for the Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center, was previously a co-chair of the Probate and Family Court subcommittee of the Massachusetts Governor’s Commission on Sexual and Domestic Violence (2005-2006), is on the Advisory Council of the Massachusetts Department of Education Safe and Supportive Learning Environment Project, and sits on a Multidisciplinary Task Force on Child to Child Abuse.
Dr. Tishelman is also a part-time faculty member in the Psychology Department of Boston College and currently teaches courses in Interpersonal Violence and Developmental Psychopathology.
